The right home theater speakers can make all the difference in the overall movie experience. With all the different speakers available to consumers today, finding the right set might at first seem a bit daunting. However, there are some basic rules that can be followed to make the decision a bit easier.

There are four basic types of home theater speakers in most speaker systems. The front, left and right, speakers are the primary means of sound reproduction. There is also normally a center-channel speaker, surround speakers, and occasionally a sub-woofer.

When looking for home theater speakers, it is important to make sure all the various speakers are voice-matched. This means making sure that the speakers all work well together as a unit. Speakers from different manufacturers often have different tonal qualities, and so it is important for a “system” to be created from speakers that exhibit the same sound qualities.
